The Best Poing Guard Is...

The point guard with the most potential is Raymond Felton. Felton has some of the best raw skills in the game. Felton loves to play afast paced game , this shows whe the 'Cats play the Suns. I feel that Felton is always overlooked because of the market he plays in. Kirk Hinrich should also get looked at as a potential guy. It also seems we forgot about Gilbert Arenas.
To answer the second question,I say that Parker will because of his success already and the skillhe has around him. Rajon Rondo might if the Celts' live up to their skill or Jameer Nelson if Dwight [Howard] does great.
The Mavericks are slowing down so it wont be [Devin] Harris.

Hey guys... I took a couple extra days before dropping a new thread 'cause there wasnt much going on in the sports world, news-wise. We've got news now though! Lol, I'll get to that in a second.

I made my pick for the best pg in the older thread, so you can go there to check it out. I chose cquinn's post to lead things off because I thought he did a decent job of defending his pick, as well as opening up the thread for new arguments by making a case for other point guards throughout the league. Good job C!

On to this week's question:

News has just leaked across the sports desk that the Mets have agreed in principal with the Minnesota Twins on a trade for Johan Santana for prospects Carlos Gomez, Phil Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra. The Mets still have to sign Santana to a contract in order for the trade to go through, but if that were to happen, what kind of shape would the Mets be in for the upcoming season? Would they be the World Series favorite? Would they still have to prove last season's collapse was a fluke? Are the Red Sox (booooooo!) still the favorite?

You guys know the rules by now, so let's get it started!

The shape that the Mets are going to be in for the upcoming season is phenomenal. I would even think of them as the Mets of 2 years ago. This addition is great but I would not think of them as the favorite, you still gotta look at the Yanks especially since they did not land Santanna. Though I hate the Yankees I like their young pitching and to give that up for a pitcher that will be no better than those guys in 5 years. The trade is a great move buy the Mets because they lose 4 guys that will not be good for 2-5 years and gain a pitcher who is in his prime. The Mets look to make it to the Playoffs but not as the favorite because they lost Glavine and this trade leaves the staff better but still similar to last year (they could not cut it). However with 2 more additions such as [Kyle Lohse] and El Duque's bro-Livan Hernandez. Those two however look like there is no chance.
So I think the staff will look like this.
Johan Santanna
John Maine
Orlando Hernandez
Pedro Martinez
Oliver Perez
(another sixth man to give Pedro rest).

I agree. At this point, even if they dont make another move, the Mets are in phenomenal shape. Honestly, the only question is whether everyone can stay healthy. If they can... they've got the best rotation in the NL East, top to bottom (overall, I'd give the nod to Arizona).

I think the Yankees actually have many more questions surrounding their rotation. They're placing a lot of faith in Hughes, Chamberlain and Kennedy; of that trio, Kennedy's really the only one who pitched consistently while in the rotation. Joba hasn't pitched in the rotation at all!

Also, they still don't have a bonafied ace. Wang is the de facto #1, but he's gotta prove he can shut other teams down when it matters.

Great trade for the Mets. I can't believe Minnesota turned down Hughes & Cabrera and ended up taking this deal instead. But... even with Santana, the Mets have to prove last season's collapse was a fluke. They've got some mental roadblocks to overcome this year. Btw, this is how the rotation currently shakes out:

Santana
Martinez
Maine
Perez
Hernandez/Pelfrey (Hernandez may be moved to the bullpen for the first half of the season)
