Celebrity Softball Extra Credit Assignment (+5 points on your marking period grade)!

Writing Assignments for the Celebrity Softball Game Program

What follows are your options for the extra credit assignment involving the Celebrity Softball Game. Each written piece must be between 250-350 words AND must demonstrate that you have done research on your topic in order to receive credit. All work must be typed.

Writing options include:

*Profile: Bill Rhoden, New York Times: partner of the HSSM and player in the Celebrity Softball game. (Research personal information online, find an article or two through a simple Google search).

*A history of the Celebrity Softball game that includes aspects of the HSSM’s fundraising efforts (what does the school raise money for?). (Interview students and faculty who are involved in the game this year or have been involved in the past. Faculty options include Reverend Branch, Ms. Battaglia, Mr. Claro and Mr. Chapman.)

*A description of each Sports Management class. (Objectively describe all three Sports Management classes to show the world what sets HSSM apart from other schools. Interview teachers or students for this assignment).

*An article on the HSSM’s partnerships with teams and colleges. (Talk to Reverend Branch or Ms. Pitts about HSSM’s relationships with the Knicks, Jets, Cyclones, UMass and Long Island University. What does the HSSM stand to gain from each? Why are they important?)
