The Red Socks are getting too cocky after their last win. The Yankees don't seem to be able stop them. The game between the Yankees and Red Socks are causing stress for their managers. The game had not been the usual one that is played between the two teams.
When NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a New England Patriots employee this seemed like an end to a superb dynasty that has dominated the sport, winning 3 championships in the last 5 years.
During the week that followed the scandal known as camera gate the nation had made the Patriots the laughing stock of the NFL. The team was caught during a game against the New York Jets; the Jets claimed that a man with an illegal camera was stealing their defensive signals. Following the terrible week the Patriots went undefeated dropping this memory from football fans across the nation. Society is known for being easy to forgive and forget but should we forgive cheaters? In baseball when Jason Giambi admitted to taking steroids he was criticized and almost out of baseball but put up huge numbers and he is now at the top of peoples tongues when they think of elite players. Why is society so quick to forget people who cheat but if you drop a pass or strikeout you are the poster child for failure? America is a what have you done for me lately place meaning if you do well we will forget your terrible past but do bad and you are out of the league.
In the case of the Patriots stealing the signals- people have accused them of filming the teams sideline for a while. Last year the Packers made the accusation but it was overlooked as the Pats were on their way to a playoff appearance. I feel as if this is a big deal for the fact that it is giving you an obvious edge against your opponent. Supporters of the Pats might say that the tape has no effect on the outcome because they have to analyze the tape for hours and there is no way they could have cheated in that game or that they only got caught because Mangini is a snitch. Never less if you did it you should be penalized heavily not just a draft pick which is nothing for this team since they will most likely be picking at the bottom and already have a star studded lineup. The fine that was issued is pocket change for the team and the coach who is one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL. Though I also do think that the media did make huge deal out of this they should have kept it going instead of stopping two weeks later. The media is an enigma who would rather cover a team with a bad record than a cheating scandal. Also why does whoever speaks out against cheaters get looked at through a different lens than the ones who know and stay quiet? My opinion is that we as a society should not be so quick to forget teams horrible past just because of their fantastic play. They should not hold it over their heads either but rather second guess every move they make.
